I started doing exams seven years ago! Also, before we finish secondary school at sixteen, we take our GCSEs. Many students find jobs after that, but most stay on at sixth form college. Another two years of hard work brings us to where I am now. But do you know what? If I’ve passed my A-levels, I’ll start my higher education at university – where three more years of examinations will be waiting!

Interesting post, Kirsty! I’ll tell you what happens in Russia. Here, children can do four
years of pre-school education, but nursery school is not compulsory. Then, pupils attend four years of primary school before beginning junior secondary school. At 16, we sit BNEs (basic national exams) to see if we’ll go to a senior secondary school, a vocational school or a technical school. We sit our RNEs (Russian national exams) at 17 or 18 if we want to go to university. At university, most undergraduate degrees last for four years, although many also do a postgraduate course afterwards.

7. Write a text about schools in Russia.
Schools in Russia are very different. It can be state or private school, standard school or gymnasium. There are a lot of schools with in-depth study of different foreign languages: English, German, French. Also pupils in some schools pay more attention to some science – for example, mathematics, physics, chemistry, sport and so on. Conditions for studying are better in private schools. Because classes are not so big there and there is individual attention to each pupil. But in every school there are a lot of optional lessons that you can choose as additional. It can be for example drama club or sport club and so on.
